New York, New York— Marie Saint-Cyr, CEO of a full service mural agency, Saint-Cyr Art Studio, received the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBA recognizes one person, each year to receive the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award across 14 counties in New York. This award applies to an individual who serves as a majority owner and holds principal responsibility for operating a small business with a three year track record. The award considers staying power, growth in number of employees, increase in sales, net profit, and net worth, and response to adversity and contributions to the community. For 2023, Marie Saint-Cyr was granted the award for the state of New York.

Marie immigrated to the United States from Haiti at the age of 8. She moved to Long Island, New York, where she pursued her passion for art. She has garnered many relationships with mentors who took an interest her and her business. In 2020 Marie entered into a mentorship program with the Business Outreach Center Network (BOC) in Brooklyn New York. They guided her in business growth and connected her with the Duplessy foundation who helped her revamp her multifaceted art business as a Mural company. After completing this program Marie donated $10,000 to help future Duplessy members achieve their small business goals.

In three years, the mural company grew from a team of 1 employee to a team of 8 employees, a database of 4 subcontractors to a database of 35+ subcontractors and web traffic increased from 300-500 a month to 10,000+ a month. In 2020 the company revenue averaged $50,000, In 2021 the revenue grew to $230,000 and in 2022 the company revenue reached $912,000. The company has painted over 90 Murals that represent the culture and messages of the environments and neighborhoods they are placed in. A member of the BOC nominated Marie for the entrepreneur ship of the year award due to her dedication to her business and her success through their mentorship program.

"Marie has always worked hard to grow her business—asking questions, continually taking classes and learning and surrounding herself with business mentors." Delia Awusi, Director, BOC Women's Business Center and Marie's nominator goes on to say "What made me nominate Marie wasn't just her work ethic but that she works kindly. Marie is passionate about helping other entrepreneurs and this is evident how she continues to give back to her community–time and resources"
